Our Organizational Structure

The Ministry of Trade and Commerce (MTC) is headed by the Minister of Trade and Commerce, who provides political leadership and policy direction. Supporting the Minister is the Director General (DG) and the Corporate Services Unit (CSU), which manages administration, finance, human resources, planning, legal services, and ICT across the Ministry.

Three Main Departments

1. Department of Industry (DOI)

Promotes industrial development, manufacturing, value-added production, and private sector growth through industry policies and business development initiatives.

2. Department of Tourism (DOT)

Responsible for tourism policy, destination development, tourism standards, accreditation programs, and sustainable tourism growth

3. Office of the Registrar of Cooperatives and Business Development Services (ORCBDS)

Regulates cooperatives, supports business development, ensures compliance with cooperative legislation, and promotes community enterprise development.

Five Statutory Bodies

1. Vanuatu Bureau of Standards (VBS)
   Develops and maintains national standards and quality assurance systems

2. Vanuatu Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (VFIPA)
   Promotes and facilitates foreign investment in Vanuatu.

3. Vanuatu Intellectual Property Office (VanIPO)
   Administers intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

4. Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO)
   Markets Vanuatu internationally and promotes tourism growth.

5. Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)
   Supports and represents the interests of the private sector and business community.
